Anthony Hopkins to star in sci-fi film 2048 about humanity that went underground after the apocalypse
Deadline reported that a new science fiction film titled 2048 has entered production. Anthony Hopkins will star in one of the lead roles.
The story takes place in a future where humanity can no longer live on the surface of the planet and has been forced to move underground. Society is controlled by an authoritarian regime known as the Collective, which has wiped people memories of the old world and dominates every aspect of their existence.
The lead character is an ordinary guy named Wesley, who gets pulled into the resistance against the regime against his will.
Timothy Woodward Jr., who previously worked on Gangster Land, will direct the film. This marks his second collaboration with Hopkins – he previously directed the actor in the lead role of the yet-to-be-released sci-fi horror film Eye of the Trees.
An exact release date for the film has not been announced yet.
