Please do not:

• Flood — post several comments in a row. Use editing to add new information

• Troll

• Post retroactive replies — editing your comment to add a response to later comments

• Go off-topic — post comments that do not correspond to the subject of the material/topic

• Add images unrelated to the topic of the discussion

• Insult other users

• Add one-word or empty comments that contribute nothing to the discussion, including phrases such as “+1,” “First,” “Lol,” or “Old news.”

• Overuse CAPITAL LETTERS

• Add giant images to the text of a comment

• Add links to illegal content

• Add TinyURL links or links from similar services

• Add links to websites/blogs that are unrelated to the topic of the discussion

• Use profanity or rude language when it is unjustified, as determined by the administration

• Use lowbrow slang

• Incite ethnic, social, religious, or any other kind of hatred

• Leave advertisements or referral links in comments

• Abuse punctuation marks, emojis, or other formatting/marking

• Distort words, especially other users’ nicknames

• Behave rudely toward someone who is not following the Etiquette. It is better to give them a link to this page

• Report errors in the comments. Use private messages or the error-reporting function at the bottom right of the site

• Circumvent a temporary account suspension, as this may lead to a permanent ban

• Use prohibited or misleading images and symbols as an avatar, such as swastikas, profanity, dust specks/specks/dots, blank images, and similar items

• Use foreign language as a primary language in comments. Use English as a primary language for comments

All of the above points can be described by the simple abbreviation DBAD: Don’t Be A Dick. If something is not specified in the etiquette rules, that does not mean you are allowed to do it.
