Fans confirm that the leaked GTA 6 map is 100% accurate
A community of enthusiasts, who spent years reconstructing the GTA 6 map frame by frame, has gone through material from this week's leak.
Members compared the leaked image against their own version of the open world and concluded that the document is genuine.
The fan-made map was built almost entirely by hand – poring over individual screenshots, teasers, and frame-by-frame trailer breakdowns. Over the years, the group put together an approximate layout of Leonida, including city locations, highways, and coastlines.
iGrandTheftAuto.com, a fansite whose members include folks involved with the GTA 6 mapping community, shared the results of the comparison:
After comparing their work with the newly leaked #GTAVI map, they believe it checks out. While some smaller details appear to be missing, the overall map leak seems to be genuine.
The image itself is a series of screenshots taken from the in-game map screen, stitched together to show the whole open world. The overall geometry lines up with the fan reconstruction, but the level of detail differs between the two versions.
The community's map lacks detail through much of the wilderness outside the cities, while the leaked map doesn't show smaller roads or some infrastructure. Enthusiasts believe this comes down to the low render quality the screenshots were captured at.
A member of the mapping community going by martipk posted comments on Discord that later spread across social media:
The map leak is 100% real. It's just a low render version that doesn't show buildings, small roads, bridges or runners. Everything is correct on the map. There are details everywhere so precise that aren't even on the community map but can still be confirmed from what we know. There is literally no way someone fabricated this.
Some fans still have doubts about whether the entire wave of leaks is real. But the latest footage suggests the leaker has access to a playable build of GTA 6.
