Dozens of different Xenomorphs in the new Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 trailer
Daybreak Games and Cold Iron Studios have revealed a new trailer for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, confirming along the way that the game is heading to Nintendo Switch 2.
That version arrives later this year, while the main platforms get the game on August 25th.
The biggest change from the first game is the expanded squad size, now up to four players instead of three.
Daybreak added deeper team mechanics that reward smart class picks and squad coordination. "Coordination and teamwork are your greatest assets as you navigate through hostile environments, tackle objectives, and fend off the xenomorph menace together. With each player's unique abilities complementing the others, your squad becomes an unstoppable force," the developer stated.
Xenomorphs got meaner and more varied in the sequel. New enemy types force players to keep moving and adjust tactics on the fly, and encounters can shift from careful ranged tactics to a desperate close-quarters last stand in seconds – hence the addition of melee stun batons along with fire and electric ammo to help hold the line.
The new Specialist class stands out as a highlight. It's fully customizable, letting players mix and match primary and secondary abilities from any available class to build a loadout suited to their playstyle. That opens up far more freedom than the fixed archetypes from the original game.
At launch, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 includes several Horde mode maps, where squads face off against escalating waves of xenomorphs and other threats.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launches on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following later in 2026.
