Joel Kinnaman stars in the first trailer for Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole
Netflix has released the full trailer for *Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole* – another adaptation of the Norwegian author's bestselling Harry Hole series, marking a new chapter for one of crime fiction's most iconic characters.
Tobias Santelmann (The Last Kingdom) plays Harry Hole, who is simultaneously hunting a serial killer through Oslo's nighttime streets and going up against corrupt fellow officer Tom Waaler, played by Joel Kinnaman. That rivalry sits at the core of the nine-episode thriller.
Oslo itself becomes a character in the series – the city's endless summer light giving way to deep shadows, a fitting backdrop for a story about a killer and moral ambiguity. In the trailer, when Hole is asked how long he's been a detective, his answer is bone-tired: "Far too long."
The show is based on The Devil's Star, the fifth book in the Harry Hole series, with a second season reportedly already in the works.
Nesbø's novels have sold over 60 million copies worldwide – including 5.6 million in Norway, a country with a population of just over 5 million.
All nine episodes of Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole drop on Netflix on March 26, 2025.
