Prime Video shows lavish trailer for the series Blade Runner 2099 with Michelle Yeoh
Prime Video released a poster and a new trailer for Blade Runner 2099 at New York Comic-Con. The eight-episode limited series premieres in full on November 25 on Prime Video.
Silka Luisa created the show with Amazon MGM Studios and Alcon Television Group. The story is set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, in a Los Angeles that has been reborn, just not by humanity.
Cora (Hunter Schafer) is a human fugitive who, in a final bid to stop running, takes on one last identity: a Blade Runner. She's forced to partner with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a Replicant with only days left to live. Together, they hunt a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse a fragile city.
Jonathan van Tulleken directed the first two episodes. On Sunday, Luisa, Yeoh, and Schafer took the stage at the Prime Video panel at the festival. Any interesting details will be shared next week, if they come up.
Ridley Scott directed the original Blade Runner in 1982, with Harrison Ford and Sean Young in the lead roles. In 2017, Ford returned as Rick Deckard in Denis Villeneuve Blade Runner 2049, where he starred alongside Ryan Gosling.
