Zack Snyder officially confirms Director's Cut of his cult 2011 film

Zack Snyder says the director's cut of his 2011 movie Sucker Punch is "definitely on the docket." Extra footage has already been shot, but the release is waiting on licensing to be finalized, along with additional ADR work with the cast.

Joining the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, the director and writer confirmed he's developing a director's cut of the film. He said the release is "definitely on the docket" but currently on hold due to unfinished licensing.

Snyder has never shied away from revisiting his movies for director's cuts, with the Justice League saga in 2021 being the clearest example. Now he has a chance to add material to a movie that flopped at the box office but earned praise for its visual style, genre-blending environments, and a soundtrack of heavy-bass cover songs performed by the cast.

The film only holds a 23% score on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed just $89 million at the box office, but it went on to become a cult classic. Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, and Oscar Isaac led the cast.

Who exactly was asking for a Snyder Cut of Sucker Punch besides Snyder himself remains unclear.
