Amazon canceled Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage after one season

The Spider-Noir series from Prime Video and MGM+ won't get a second season. The show got the axe after just eight episodes, even though it was considered one of the platform's biggest hits this year.

The cancellation comes down to a rough cost-to-viewership ratio – the audience was solid, but not large enough to justify the show's hefty production budget.

The timing makes the decision sting even more, since Spider-Noir is heading into the upcoming Emmy ceremony as one of the frontrunners.

Critics and fans both gave the series strong marks – it holds a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes along with a 90% audience rating on the "popcornmeter." Nielsen streaming data also showed Spider-Noir racking up 2.6 billion viewing minutes in its first six weeks.
