A Multitude of Xenomorph Types, From Armored to Praetorian, Featured in New Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Trailer

Cold Iron Studios dropped a new trailer just days before the launch of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. The game arrives on August 25, and the latest video, titled "Xenomorph Showcase", gives a look at the main threats waiting for marine fireteams out in the field.

Despite the title, not every creature from the bestiary made an appearance.

The developers focused on a handful of key xenomorph types and pathogen-infected soldiers. The trailer features:

  • Drone – the basic xenomorph form

  • Facehugger – the parasite responsible for infecting hosts

  • Warden – a reinforced combat variant

  • Exploder – a creature dealing explosive damage

  • Crusher – a heavy, armor-plated enemy

  • Siren – a creature with unique sonic attacks

  • Praetorian XX121 – an elite form that precedes the queen

  • Harbinger and Striker – pathogen-infected creatures

Near the end of the video, glimpses of the xenomorph queen show up, hinting at one of the game boss fights.

The full bestiary will include even more enemies than what's shown here.

Sharp-eyed viewers also spotted a nod to the movie "Prometheus" in the form of a distinctive wall mural. The first game used a similar trick, weaving levels tied to events from the Alien prequels.

It looks like the developers are once again treating fans of the film universe to Easter eggs, tying the game story into the broader lore.

The story of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 takes place on planet LV-558, in an area called Storr's Boon, where players will need to uncover the cause behind a series of strange events.

The game launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series on August 25.
