The only drawing of Sauron created by Tolkien was "brought to life" using AI

Based on the only surviving sketch of Sauron, drawn by J.R.R. Tolkien himself, someone created a photorealistic reconstruction using AI.

Tolkien drew the sketch in 1954 as an early concept of Sauron for The Return of the King. Now someone has tried to reimagine his strange, rather unusual look as if the character truly existed in Middle-earth.

The result is no less grim, though it resembles a Nazgûl wrapped in tattered robes more than anything else.
