Skyscraper in Mongolia turned out to be a copy of the PS5 long before its announcement

Sometimes architecture beats industrial design to the punch by a decade or more.

The clearest example shows up when a glass and concrete office tower ends up mirroring the silhouette of a gaming console that won't exist for years.

The building in question is Blue Sky Tower, a hotel and office complex in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

The curved, sail-shaped structure with black facade panels really does look painfully similar to the white "wings" of a PS5 standing upright. Construction wrapped up back in 2009, eleven years before Sony revealed its current-gen console.

Turns out the Mongolian tower isn't the only PS5 lookalike out there. Boston has its own running joke about a pair of downtown skyscrapers, with locals insisting one is clearly a PS5 and the other a PS4.

People have also thrown Taipei Nan Shan Plaza and the new Sydney fish market building into the mix, both sharing that same smooth curve and split silhouette.

All playstation consoles since the PS2 have been designed based on buildings.

There's no way to actually prove it, but the resemblance is close enough in some cases that people are already joking about hunting down a real-world building for the PS6.
