Gothic 1 Remake received a major 1.0.4 update with a hundred fixes

Alkimia Interactive has released another major patch for Gothic 1 Remake.

Update 1.0.4 fixes numerous technical issues, gameplay bugs, and chapter-related errors.

Among the technical fixes, the developer addressed various crashes and freezes, dialogue hangs, and several audio problems. The team also fixed an issue where switching weapons right after firing a crossbow would skip the reload animation and not consume bolts.

The patch also fixes an inconsistency in experience gain when finishing off NPCs with magic or the "F" key. Previously, killing downed enemies with arrows or magic granted no experience – that's now fixed.

The nameless hero will no longer get stuck in the Sleeper dream if knocked down during the transition into the dream. The team also fixed the equipped bow disappearing from the hero back when certain spells were used.

Special attention went to NPC control mechanics. The team fixed a situation where using the teleport rune while controlling an NPC could cause a distance break, sometimes leaving the player stuck with the control session failing to end properly. NPCs under the "Control" spell no longer die from fall damage when jumping from a height.

Among the technical improvements, the developer increased the number of audio channels to support more sounds, refined facial expressions and gestures for some characters, and made various performance and navigation improvements.

A new line now plays for failed lockpicking attempts. The game now distinguishes between situations where the hero lacks a key versus lacking a lockpick.

In the gameplay fixes section, the team resolved a bug that prevented looting creature trophies from chests without having learned the corresponding lesson. They also fixed a situation where certain herbs weren't spawning properly.

Chapter one received an especially large number of fixes. The team fixed a bug that prevented giving or selling Snaf key to Aaron if the player had stolen it. They also improved Grim path leading the player to the "Lost Amulet" quest.

Torus now appears as a teacher from the very beginning. The team fixed an error that caused Milten to leave his focus zone and follow the hero around.

Balance changes affected equipment. Mage robes (Fire, Water, and Dark Arts) now grant more physical defense in exchange for reduced elemental resistance, while also increasing maximum mana pool.

Shadow and Bandit armor upgrades now have slightly lower defense at high levels. Early upgrades are now cheaper, while top-tier ones cost more. Guard, Mercenary, and Templar armor upgrades became more expensive, especially at higher levels.

The developer also redistributed loot across locations, adding scrolls, potions, and weapons at the shipwreck site and in the Foggy Tower. In the Shadow cave in the Eastern Forest, Skullcrusher was replaced with Storm's Whisper, and the item now only appears after the "Ulu-Mulu" quest begins.

Other improvements include refined NPC movement in the Old Camp tunnel, navigation fixes to eliminate blockages, and minor dialogue changes for better consistency between player actions and the state of the world.
