Skyrim fan turns Alduin statue into Christmas tree topper

The holiday season brings out creative decorating impulses in gamers, both in virtual worlds and real life. One Skyrim enthusiast discovered the perfect use for their collectible statue by placing Alduin, the World-Eater, atop their Christmas tree.

Reddit user Dumcookie69420 shared the festive tradition, which utilizes the upper portion of the statue included in Skyrim's Collector's Edition released on November 11, 2011.

The Collector's Edition featured a detailed statue of Alduin that separates into two pieces. Fans discovered the top half works perfectly as an unconventional tree topper, with the dragon's wings and head creating a dramatic crown for holiday decorations.

The practice extends beyond a single fan. Multiple Reddit users confirmed they've been decorating their trees with Alduin annually since 2011. One fan transformed it into a family ritual – playing the Skyrim theme while lifting their daughter to place the dragon on top, recently adding a Santa hat to complete the look.

The original Collector's Edition statue currently sells for approximately $120 on eBay. Some collectors keep their figures boxed due to curious cats, though users noted Alduin secures fairly well to tree branches – unless you happen to own a cat named Mephala.

One owner cautioned the statue's sharp edges proved more durable than expected, recounting how their uncle required 15 stitches after borrowing it for a Daenerys Targaryen Halloween costume, while Alduin emerged unscathed.
