All changes in Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.5 – dual-wielding, 12 new Tarot cards and DLSS 4.5

CD Projekt RED published the full Update 2.5 patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077, timed to the release of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime series.

The patch arrives October 22 on PC and Mac (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series. Nintendo Switch 2 owners and players on the Mac App Store version will get the update within the next few days.

YouTuber Was Nemo revealed most of the new features earlier, but the official patch notes go into more detail. Besides the already known abilities and mods, the studio talked about new tarot cards, an updated photo mode, and a large batch of technical improvements.

The centerpiece of the patch is tied to the new series. A side job called "Containment Measures" will serve as an introduction to the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. To unlock it, players need to finish the "Ticket to the Major Leagues" quest, complete two gigs for Wakako, and wait for a message from her.

During the quest, players can get a five-piece gear set styled after Wick Kingsley, nicknamed the King, one of the main characters of Edgerunners 2. A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, will also start broadcasting in Night City with music from the anime.

Cyberware arms can now be customized visually. Players need to install Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, a Monowire, or a Projectile Launch System, then visit one of five glammers marked on the map with a spray can icon. Each artist works out of their own shop, greets V with a unique voiced and animated intro scene, and offers a separate catalog of cyberware skins with adjustable colors.

The "Double Effect" ability in the Cool tree, along with several additional abilities, unlocks dual-wielding. The mechanic works with standard pistols and revolvers. For photo mode, the developers added new poses designed for paired weapons, along with frames from the Cyberpunk collectible card game that turn screenshots into something resembling cards.

Clothing stores will get five new collections from different brands. Maxwear sets are sold in Heywood, Arroyo, and Little China, Jinguji is available in City Center, Netwatch in Kabuki and Japantown, and Icon America in Pacifica, the Badlands, and Northside. The fifth set goes on sale a bit later.

Separately, an NCPD infiltration agent gear set can be bought in Kabuki and Japantown. V will also gain access to some hairstyles previously worn only by NPCs, though the available options depend on the character gender. A bit later, four "Counterstrike" paint variants for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech will be handed out through Twitch Drops.

The biggest change for consoles involves mods. CD Projekt RED added cross-platform mod support built on mod.io, letting players browse and install user-made content straight from the game menu. The feature is available on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series, and the mod catalog will gradually grow.

Saves with mods will get a separate icon in the load menu. On consoles, achievements and trophies won't unlock when playing from such saves.

The game also gets a new side job featuring a tour of Night City, where the city founder Richard Night acts as a virtual guide. Over the course of the tour, V will uncover yet another secret of the city. The quest unlocks after the "Ticket to the Major Leagues" quest and reaching Street Cred level 15.

The developers also added 12 Minor Arcana hidden around the city. The tarot card section is now split into Major and Minor Arcana. The search for the new cards continues the "Fool of Night City" quest and activates after scanning any one of them, with a reward for completing the full collection.

Interface changes touch the load menu, where saves are now grouped by individual playthrough. Apartment and vehicle stashes got item filters, and consoles received a field of view (FOV) slider. CD Projekt RED also updated the CD PROJEKT RED Account linking menu, the "My Rewards" section, and the telemetry data consent menu.

The technical side of the patch is extensive:

  • DLSS 4.5 support, including multi frame generation with up to a 6X multiplier, dynamic multi frame generation, and a second-generation transformer model

  • Glasses-free 3D on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors, plus a "Motion Comfort" setting to balance picture depth and eye comfort

  • MetalFX frame interpolation and denoising support on Mac

  • An updated set of AMD FSR options, where FSR 3 upscaling is removed while FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 frame generation remain

  • A separate toggle for FSR Anti-Lag 2

  • Performance optimizations, including for ray tracing and PS5 Pro

  • Improved HDR rendering with more accurate color, brightness, and contrast

The list of fixes includes several long-standing issues. Among them:

  • The "Failed to save game: not enough space" message on Nintendo Switch 2

  • HDR settings on PS5 that the game ignored

  • Delamain taxi getting stuck after colliding with another car in the "Nobody Wants a Merc" quest and blocking progression

  • The non-working "Film Grain" option

  • V sitting down or standing up when tagging enemies while scanning on some control schemes

  • Third-person camera gamepad settings missing from the menu

  • Typos in several language versions

The studio also fixed a number of bugs in features and content introduced to the game since Update 2.1.
