"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" showrunner names condition for another season
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners creator Bartosz Sztybor has explained what needs to happen for a third season to get made. He didn't rule out more stories in the universe, but he wouldn't make any predictions either.
There’s a lot of stories to tell in Night City and beyond, so you never know.
Still, don't expect a season 3 announcement anytime soon. Sztybor said the main reason is the perfectionism at CD Projekt RED, which means a continuation is far from guaranteed.
I think the whole studio’s approach, [CD Projekt RED’s], is that there always needs to be a perfect story and a perfect director, artist, or a studio that will be able to pull off this story.
So if the stars align and [we] will be able to create something high quality again, then yes. But if there’s no perfect story or no perfect director with his or her unique voice, then maybe it will be just two Edgerunners.
Fans still have some reason for hope. The official Edgerunners account shared a poll for a community activity where fans contribute art and gameplay photos around a specific theme. One of the options was "The Next Edgerunners Legend," with a caption reading:
Night City’s stories are far from over.
It's unlikely to be a season 3 tease, especially with Cyberpunk 2077 updates and the sequel in development, but the community is buzzing about the post all the same.
Maybe the showrunners will hear them out.
