There are still a hundred days until Avengers: Doomsday is released, and the movie has already earned more than $50 million in the US

Disney has already broken a major ticket resale record for Avengers: Doomsday, and the movie still has more than three months to go before it hits theaters. Disney has officially confirmed that the film has crossed $50 million in domestic pre-sales in the US.

Disney SEVP and CFO Hugh Johnston shared the figure during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference. According to him, Avengers: Doomsday is the first film in history to hit that kind of pre-sales number a full 100 days before release.

The numbers are even more impressive considering this marks the first Avengers movie in seven years. The franchise has a strong track record at the box office – Avengers: Endgame still holds the title of highest-grossing Marvel movie ever and sits second among the highest-grossing films worldwide with $2.79 billion. Given how fast Doomsday is selling right now, it could end up beating that record.

Doomsday isn't just up against outside competition either – it's facing pressure from another Marvel release too. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still playing in theaters and closing in fast on Endgame numbers. On top of that, Doomsday releases the same day as Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part 3, which has already locked down exclusive IMAX rights in the US for the first three weeks of release.

To get around that, Disney is rolling out its own premium format called Infinity Vision. The move gives the studio a way to offer audiences an alternative to IMAX without losing viewers chasing that big-screen spectacle.
