Blizzard Reveals Diablo 5 Teaser Trailer with Spring 2029 Release and the Fall of Sanctuary

A genuinely surprising reveal closed out BlizzCon opening ceremonies today – Blizzard showed off a teaser for Diablo 5. The wait will be a long one, with release set for spring 2029. The good news: Diablo himself is coming back.

The brief teaser showed off the hellscape where the game takes place. The story picks up a full century after the events of Diablo 4, after Sanctuary has already fallen. Players will need to fight their way through what amounts to a post-apocalyptic world.

There isn't much more to share about Diablo 5 right now, but Blizzard also laid out its support plans for Diablo 4. A class pack arrives in the first half of 2027, adding the Amazon. The class already showed up during the Lord of Hatred expansion and leans on high mobility, bow attacks, and a new weapon, the javelin.

The next season is called Hell's Legacy and celebrates the history of the franchise. It brings back old enemies and elements from previous Diablo games, including Deckard Cain, Mephisto, and, of course, Diablo himself. The season kicks off Tuesday, September 15.

Blizzard also confirmed something most people already saw coming: the Diablo: Age of Hatred collection, featuring Diablo 4 and both expansions, is heading to Nintendo Switch 2.

That release lands September 15 as well, lining up with the start of Hell's Legacy.
