STALKER 2 receives patch 2.0.5 with over 200 fixes
GSC Game World shows no signs of slowing down support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, even after the successful launch of its first story DLC, "The Price of Hope." Shortly after the expansion arrived, the studio rolled out a new patch focused entirely on bug fixes and gameplay polish. The update, numbered 2.0.5, weighs around 8 GB on PC.
Developers noted that this round of fixes turned out to be unusually large. The patch touches more than 200 different issues, ranging from AI behavior to story quest stability and performance in some of the most demanding areas of the Zone.
One of the biggest chunks of changes deals with NPCs and mutants. The team adjusted NPC hearing mechanics during fog, rain, and thunderstorms, since enemies previously reacted to the player incorrectly under those conditions.
The update also fixes boars freezing mid-attack, damage registration problems with chimeras on the move, and erratic behavior in tushkano psi-illusions that could act unpredictably during fights.
Another fix targets enemies getting stuck floating in the air or switching poses after a save is loaded – glitches that often broke immersion and drew plenty of player complaints.
fixed overly sensitive controller stick input on PC;
squashed numerous quest bugs that could get players stuck, break progress, or cause them to miss key events;
adjusted behavior for NPCs, mutants, and anomalies, including the Chimera, Mavka, Amok, snorks, and zombies;
improved performance in several locations and during large-scale battles;
added new autosaves and fixed many issues with cutscenes, sound, lighting, and weather;
added a snork den at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and an artifact for the "Lightbulbs" anomaly;
warned that mods may cause problems after this update and recommended disabling them.
The deadly staircase bug at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant had become notorious among players, who reported that simply walking down a set of stairs could instantly end a playthrough with no warning.
A separate bug that caused players to lose their aim when switching fire modes also caused headaches during intense firefights, where split-second reactions matter most.
GSC Game World published the full list of changes, along with technical details for every fix, in separate patch notes.
