FX and Hulu have released the first behind-the-scenes footage from season two of Alien: Earth – shots and photos confirm that production on the sequel has officially begun.
Noah Hawley created the series and remains showrunner for the new season.
Filming is once again taking place in the UK, where season one was shot – this lets the crew reuse infrastructure that's already dialed in, along with props familiar from the previous episodes.
Among the news fans are discussing, word that Peter Dinklage has joined the cast stands out. Details about his role haven't been revealed yet, but an actor of his caliber joining the project has boosted interest in the sequel even among those who were skeptical about season one.
Season one of Alien: Earth split the audience into two camps. Some viewers criticized the show for contradicting established timeline and lore, calling the characters "a parody of themselves." Others called it a solid expansion of the universe, showing how Earth operated during that period and revealing the xenomorphs as just one piece of much larger corporate power plays.
Viewers singled out the storyline between Kirsh and Morrow – the dynamic between android and cyborg was called one of the strongest elements of the season.
