Mortal Shell 2 player discovered that before the final boss, the game reproached him for 16 thousand hours in Destiny 2

Right before the final boss in Mortal Shell 2, players stumble on a few stone tablets covered in text. Instead of lore, Cold Symmetry pulled real Steam account stats and dressed them up as the Foundling wandering through other worlds.

One player shared a screenshot on X showing a tablet calling out their Destiny 2 playtime.

The inscription notes that there's one place where the traveler spent more time than anywhere else, throwing out a number – 16,062 hours. It then asks what exactly they were looking for there, and whether they simply got trapped.

That figure works out to 669 straight days of play, or roughly a year and nine months. The tablet shows up right before the entrance to the arena for the last fight.

Other players say they've run into similar messages. One version describes foreign words reaching the character that he can't quite make sense of, then lists Elden Ring Nightreign, Counter-Strike 2, Elden Ring, SCUM, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Baldur's Gate 3. The phrasing frames the list as worlds the character somehow knows exist.

The trick calls back to PS2-era games that read memory cards. The most famous example is Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid, who commented on save files from other Konami titles, including Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Azure Dreams. The difference here is that Steam stats hand over exact numbers instead of vague hints.
