New mod for Skyrim adds localized damage and reworked weapon balance

Modder Seb263 has released a mod for The Elder Scrolls V that adds a localized damage system, armor effectiveness, weapon balance, and combat context for deeper, more tactical fights.

Going into more detail, the mod adds a full damage system where every hit matters. Damage now depends on exactly where you hit, what armor is protecting that area, and the conditions of the fight.

The mod works on the player, NPCs, and creatures of any race. It also works with races added by other mods and doesn't require special patches.

Built on the Core Impact Framework, the mod handles hit locations, armor strength, weapon balance, and combat conditions. All of these systems work together in real time, making combat more varied and tactical.

The head, torso, arms, and legs each have their own damage values. These values can change for physical, ranged, and magic attacks. The mod also tracks the exact body part that gets hit. A headshot on an unarmored enemy deals far more damage than a hit to the leg of an enemy in heavy armor. That makes headshots more deadly and limb hits more useful.

Different weapons also carry their own damage values. One-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, daggers, hand-to-hand attacks, bows, spells, and creature attacks can all be set up separately. That means a dagger, sword, axe, bow, spell, or claw can each deal different amounts of damage.

Armor matters more now too. Cloth, light armor, and heavy armor can each have their own strength and coverage settings. The mod checks whatever armor is worn and finds the best protection for each body part. Heavy armor on the chest will protect the chest, but it won't help bare legs. Armor choices now have a real impact on survival.

How an attack is made also affects its damage. Normal attacks, power attacks, sneak attacks, shield bashes, blocked hits, and attacks on staggered enemies all work differently. A sneak attack with a dagger to an unarmored head is far deadlier than a blocked power attack against an enemy in full plate.

These changes make combat more tactical and give players more reason to think about how they fight.
