Pokemon Battle Revolution fan spent over five years collecting all 12 Shiny outfits
Shiny hunting is a time-honored tradition among hardcore Pokemon fans, but one dedicated player spent the last several years not searching for rare Pokemon, but collecting something even rarer – Shiny outfits that look like Pokemon. A Shiny hunter going by Noa_Kyogre appears to be the first person to have collected the complete set of these items in Pokemon Battle Revolution.
Pokemon Battle Revolution launched as a spin-off to the main series on Wii in 2006. You can collect costumes in the game, including a special series of Pokemon outfits, which you can obtain by defeating the respective endgame trainers wearing them. With a 1 in 8192 chance – a number very familiar to old-school Shiny hunters – these trainers may be wearing a special Shiny version of the outfit that you can claim for yourself.
Hunting for these Shiny outfits is far more tedious than regular Shiny hunting, as each attempt takes 10 to 15 minutes. Multiply that by thousands of attempts, and you can imagine just how massive an undertaking this becomes.
Noa_Kyogre didn't stop at one Shiny outfit and didn't even call it quits after collecting all six available versions. Instead, they collected 12 outfits – the complete set in both the Japanese and worldwide versions of the game.
I think I'm the first person to do so. I've probably been doing this for about 5-6 years! I'll never do it again!!!
If each attempt at getting a Shiny outfit takes about 10 minutes, and it averages 8196 attempts to find one – both generous assumptions – it would take around 1,300 hours to collect each outfit. Multiply that by 12, and you get 15,600 hours. That's just shy of literally two calendar years of non-stop Shiny hunting.
