Strategy game Atre: Dominance Wars gets a demo – an unusual Heroes variation with large-scale battlefield armies
Ironward, known for The Red Solstice series, released a new trailer for Atre: Dominance Wars. The game combines 4X real-time strategy and turn-based tactics with RPG mechanics, drawing inspiration from Heroes of Might and Magic, Age of Wonders, and Stellaris. The battles themselves resemble Total War skirmishes more than standard Heroes combat.
A demo is available on Steam, with full release planned for PC.
In Atre: Dominance Wars, players take on the role of an Elder – a powerful sorcerer striving for godhood. Gameplay revolves around commanding armies, developing settlements, and mastering magical abilities. A key feature is the mutation system, allowing players to transform troops to adapt to different combat situations.
Developers put special emphasis on the Avatar system – immortal generals who lead player armies. These characters grow with each victory, equip artifacts, and become increasingly formidable. Reaching the highest level of development, players can ascend to divine status and open gates between worlds, gaining access to devastating magic. However, this power comes at a price – entities from other dimensions may enter through the opened portals.
The world of Atre: Dominance Wars reacts to player choices from the very start of character creation. Events unfold based on magical attributes and decisions made during gameplay. Developers emphasize that events are deeply tied to world lore, and unexpected consequences await those who neglect to study it. This system promises a unique experience with each playthrough.
Beyond character development, players must expand territories by sending emissaries to scout the fractured world.
