Bookmakers name the favorite to play James Bond with a 62 percent chance

Final screen tests for the next 007 kicked off this week, and bookmakers are already taking bets on the lead actor, the Bond girl, and the theme song artist. Jack Lowden is leading the pack, while Margaret Qualley is the most frequent pick for the main female role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, three finalists are testing for 007: Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, and Jack O'Connell. Amazon MGM Studios, the producers, and director Denis Villeneuve may or may not have made up their minds already. Bookmakers, though, didn't wait for an official announcement.

Oddschecker, a platform that compares odds from British bookmakers, has Slow Horses star Jack Lowden as the favorite. His odds sit at 8/13, which translates to roughly a 62 percent chance. The rest of the field breaks down like this:

• Callum Turner, star of Masters of the Air – 25%.

• Josh O'Connor of Disclosure Day – 13%.

• Richard Madden – 11%.

• Jack O'Connell – 8%.

• Jacob Elordi – 7%.

Prediction markets work on a similar principle but show slightly different numbers. On Kalshi, Lowden also leads with 64%, followed by Turner (28%) and O'Connor (19%). Idris Elba (9%) and Robert Pattinson (7%) are further down the list.

Turner has reportedly already done his test, which is rumored to have taken place yesterday.

BetOnline is taking separate bets on the Bond girl role. The Substance star Margaret Qualley leads with 33%. The other candidates line up as follows:

• Sydney Sweeney, star of Euphoria – 25%.

• Anya Taylor-Joy, star of Furiosa – 25%.

• Florence Pugh – 17%.

• Zendaya – 13%.

• Lauren Sánchez – 5%.

• Kate Winslet – 4%.

Several other names sit at around 3%, including Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson. Bond movies usually feature more than one significant female character who partners with or flirts with the agent, so it's entirely possible that several actresses from the bookmakers' list will end up as Bond girls.

Bets are also open on who will perform the theme song. Raye is on top with a 50% implied chance, followed by Olivia Dean, Dua Lipa, Sienna Spiro, Lana Del Rey, Oasis, and Lady Gaga.

Dune director Denis Villeneuve is helming the new Bond film, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing for Amazon MGM Studios.
