Enthusiast spent $700 on tokens, but ChatGPT-6 Astra couldn't even get through the tutorial in Cuphead
X user Miłosz Szewsky asked ChatGPT-6 Astra to complete the hardcore platformer Cuphead. After several hours and $700 worth of tokens, the result was, to put it mildly, not the most impressive.
Judging by the short clip, the AI couldn't even get through the tutorial.
Astra fared much better with Portal. User cozyblaze hooked the new model up to Valve's puzzle game and tasked it with beating the whole thing on its own. The model received screenshots, character coordinates, and the ability to control the game through connected tools.
It actually made it to the ending – though that took nearly 24 hours, including pauses for reasoning.
Beating Portal took Astra 3336 tool calls, with the API cost reaching $571.18. The author of the experiment points out an important caveat though: Portal came out many years ago and has been analyzed online in such detail that the model may already have had a huge amount of information about the game baked in.
