Minecraft received update 3.45 with new biomes and hundreds of fixes

Mojang released a new update for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, bringing a huge list of changes. On consoles the update shows up as Minecraft 3.45 and includes the experimental Drop 3 features alongside a batch of bug fixes.

The headline addition is a new structure called the "Abandoned Camp." Players can find it across many biomes, including Plains, Cherry Grove, Forest, Birch Forest, Taiga, Swamp, Savanna and others. Each biome gets its own version of the structure with a unique look, and inside players will find chests and barrels loaded with loot.

A new biome called the "Dappled Forest" deserves special mention, generating near cold regions. It features poplar trees and fallen poplars, along with shelf mushrooms growing on trunks and red shrubs scattered around. The biome spawns passive and neutral mobs in their cold variants, including sheep, chickens, cows, pigs, rabbits and foxes.

Poplars are a brand new tree type, coming in three leaf color variations – red, orange and yellow. Each variant has its own falling leaf particles matching the corresponding color. Poplar leaves drop saplings that randomly grow into one of the three variants, and the saplings themselves can be bought from the Wandering Trader.

Other additions include the "Shelf Mushroom," which grows on poplar trees in two sizes, and the "Red Shrub," a decorative plant that can be used in a composter. Developers also added stairs and slabs made from wool in all sixteen colors.

A new item called the "Cushion" lets players place an object in the world and sit on it. Crafting a cushion takes three wool slabs of the same color, and it comes in all sixteen color variants. Cushions can't be moved, have no collision, and break if the supporting block is removed.

Another addition, the "Straw Bed," lets players sleep through the night without setting a respawn point. It can only be used once before breaking. It doesn't work in the Nether or the End, and crafting it from three haystacks yields four beds at once.

The update also brings a wide range of accessibility improvements. Developers fixed duplicated narration in text fields, added a screen distortion option to accessibility settings, and improved furnace screen navigation with narration for tabs and toggles.

A large chunk of changes affects the Sulfur Cube. It's no longer classified as a hostile mob, no longer prevents players from sleeping, and no longer gets attacked by conduits. Cubes that have absorbed a block now deflect projectiles and spawn particles on impact, and blocks inside them now render with the same orientation as in the Java Edition.

Among the gameplay tweaks, arrows now deal damage based on flight speed instead of purely at random. Boats now need fewer hits to break and heal damage over time, matching Java Edition behavior. Thrown eggs no longer send targets flying unnaturally high.

Vibrant Visuals got some extra attention too. Developers fixed overly bright cloud reflections in water during the transition to midnight, corrected emissive effects on custom blocks, and fixed rendering of clouds, the sun, the moon and stars underwater. They also resolved texture streaming issues, including blurry high-resolution textures and projectiles that were rendering as solid colors.

Realms now has a new "Realms Hub" tab, accessible from the pause menu, letting players manage and restore both automatic and manual saves. The subscriptions tab also gained a delete button for expired Realms.

On the stability side, developers fixed a memory leak in the Character Editor, several rare crashes tied to loading structures and switching dimensions, and added a 512 nested entry limit for NBT tags, matching Java Edition. Multiplayer worlds with limited storage now automatically clear unused cached packs.

World storage now supports cloud data sync on Windows, providing backups and access to worlds across different devices on that platform.

Developers also added new OREUI storage settings with status and management options.
