The first fight between a human and a humanoid Terminator-like robot took place in San Francisco
An unusual match in San Francisco has been making the rounds online – a human squared off against a six-foot-tall humanoid robot inside a fighting cage.
The event was organized by REK, a US robotics company developing a VR game where players remotely control combat robots and fight each other.
Influencer and content creator Frankie LaPenna took on the robot. Before the match, the machine – built to resemble a futuristic combat bot – warmed up and moved around the ring, showing off its range of motion to the crowd.
Once the fight kicked off, LaPenna threw several punches, but the robot fired back just as hard, landing punches and powerful kicks of its own. At multiple points, the robot kicks sent LaPenna flying across the cage.
REK billed the match as the first human-versus-humanoid robot fight in history and said more footage would be released soon. The company captioned the video on X:
We just made history with the first Human VS Terminator robot fight. Frankie LaPenna gave it his all.
The 165-pound humanoid robot, an EngineAI T800, was controlled remotely by a person, so technically this wasn't a fight between a human and an autonomous AI.
