Minecraft Movie 2 producer teases the Ender Dragon could appear in the sequel
Minecraft Movie 2 producer Roy Lee has teased that the sequel will introduce a character fans have been clamoring for. After the first film followed heroes battling Malgosha and her Piglin army, audiences made one thing clear: they want the Ender Dragon in the follow-up.
It remains to be seen whether that'll actually happen. Speaking to Collider, Lee offered up the following tease said:
"A lot of people said, 'Yeah, just make that movie, but make sure the Ender Dragon is in it.' I think that's what a lot of the requests have been."
Another character who could show up in Minecraft Movie 2 is Alex. The post-credits scene from the first film featured Jack Black's Steve meeting his red-haired counterpart, setting up her potential role in the sequel.
Official story details remain under wraps, but star Jason Momoa said earlier this year that the sequel's script is "so good."
"I haven't laughed out loud in a very long time at a script," he said.
A Minecraft Movie, released in 2025, earned more than $950 million globally at the box office, so a sequel was all but inevitable. It was officially confirmed in October 2025, with Warner Bros. setting a release date of July 23, 2027.
Original director Jared Hess is returning to both direct and co-write the sequel. Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Hansen are all expected to reprise their roles alongside Black and Momoa, with new cast members also set to join.
