Star Wars: Galactic Racer will feature podracers from The Phantom Menace

The Game Awards 2025 delivered plenty of exciting announcements, but one of the most unexpected was Star Wars: Galactic Racer – a spiritual successor to Episode I: Racer and the overlooked Racer Revenge. The game looked impressive, but fans had one concern after the trailer premiere: there wasn't a single classic podracer to be found in the footage.

While Sebulba's appearance in the final seconds of the video rekindled fans' hopes, Fuse Games CEO and co-founder Matt Webster has now officially confirmed that podracing will return alongside other vehicle types.

You can't really make a Star Wars racing experience and not have podracing, can you? The core fantasy of the game is becoming an elite racing pilot in the Galactic League, and podracing is a pinnacle of speed and racing in the Star Wars galaxy.

The main question now is whether an older Sebulba, Anakin Skywalker's first rival, will be the exception among a diverse roster of racers, or if he'll be joined by other familiar faces from The Phantom Menace's Boonta Eve Classic race.

What's certain is that Fuse Games aimed to reinvent Star Wars racing games without forgetting their legacy.

We wanted to do more – to lean into multiple vehicle types and multiple expressions of speed to give players a breadth of experiences. Galactic Racer offers players the ability to pilot vehicles they know and love, alongside ones they won't have experienced before, across a range of solo and multiplayer modes.

The mention of several solo and multiplayer modes is intriguing, as previous materials only discussed a unique runs-based story campaign and standard PvP multiplayer.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
