Baldur's Gate 3 player successfully hides Dark Urge playthrough from co-op partner for many hours

The Dark Urge is one of the most compelling ways to experience Baldur's Gate 3, casting players as a morally questionable character constantly drawn to the darkest corners of their own mind. Throughout the game, the character's backstory gradually unfolds, and players can either share this with companions or conceal their true nature. It's an engaging roleplaying approach that adds depth beyond typical "evil" and "good" paths.

However, a fan going by Finnsiboi found a way to take the Dark Urge to the next level.

My friend doesn’t know im a dark urge.

My friend and I have over 300 hours on Baldurs gate and we started maybe our 3-4 run together but this time i decided to play as the dark urge and hide it from him as long as i can

I thought he knew about the dark urge but he has no idea, i killed gale and he hasn’t even noticed that he is dead, he even saw the evil butler guy at our camp (sorry i dont know his name) and was freaking out about it

Another player admitted in the discussion that they attempted the same trick, but their wife "exposed" them.

This is an inventive way to spice up co-op, provided the second player doesn't mind occasionally waking up to a murder scene at camp – and somehow never heard about the Dark Urge. While it might seem the secret would be revealed fairly early when Alfira dies, Finnsiboi found several clever workarounds to keep everything under wraps, convincing their friend that an impostor had infiltrated the camp and making cutscenes private so their partner wouldn't see Dark Urge dialogue.

Yea he has asked why my cutscene is private once, i just told him it was a guardian dream hahaha.

Eventually Orin will lift the veil and reveal everything, but by that point, with hours spent playing through together, it will make the revelation even more thrilling for the partner – discovering their travel companion was the Dark Urge all along.

This is classic D&D material, the kind of prank you pull with the Dungeon Master behind other players' backs – shame most of us will already know about the Dark Urge before starting a co-op playthrough.
