Monster Hunter Wilds player discovers frame rate depends on DLC checks – disabling content verification doubles performance

Monster Hunter Wilds has become one of the worst optimized games of 2025. Despite a major update from Capcom last month and promises of two additional patches, the game continues to perform poorly across all platforms. However, an enthusiast managed to nearly double the title's performance.

According to Redditor de_Tylmarande, the game constantly checks for all DLC owned by the player. This procedure turned out to be the main cause of CPU and RAM loading issues. Simply disabling this check allowed the modder to double the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds.

As proof, de_Tylmarande published a video. Without the modification, the game ran at a minimum of 24 FPS and an average of 30 FPS. After bypassing DLC checks, performance shot up dramatically – the minimum reached 43 FPS, while the average climbed to 49 FPS. The modder improved minimum frame rate by 79% and average by 63%.

Unfortunately, de_Tylmarande hasn't yet shared the modification with the community. However, he has already informed Capcom about his findings. If the company doesn't implement this fix in the two planned performance updates for PC, the modder plans to release the mod publicly.

Capcom has faced similar issues before. Resident Evil Village suffered from severe stuttering at launch. Interestingly, these problems only gained attention after a cracked version of the game appeared that ran without the stuttering present in the official release. Following this revelation, Capcom released a patch that eliminated the problem.
