Starfield is coming to PS5 and getting free flight between planets in a star system
Bethesda held a short stream focused on the near future of Starfield and confirmed several long-anticipated announcements. The biggest ones: the game is coming to PS5, and a major update called Free Lanes is on the way – both dropping on April 7.
Free Lanes looks to expand the gameplay in a meaningful way. The update brings new locations, ground vehicles, a new resource for modifying weapons and ship modules, and enemies with modifiers that shake up combat encounters.
Bethesda also confirmed a mechanic fans had been asking about for a while: free flight between planets within a single star system. Out in open space, players can expect random encounters and the ability to spend time alongside crew members.
Alongside the update, Bethesda announced a new expansion called Terran Armada, centered on humanity's future in space. Players will go up against hostile robots, and the DLC adds new characters, locations, enemies, mechanics, and items to Starfield.
Terran Armada also releases on April 7 and will run $10.
