Resident Evil Requiem surpasses 5 million copies sold in five days
Capcom announced that Resident Evil Requiem, released on February 27, 2026, has surpassed 5 million copies sold worldwide. The company credited widespread acclaim from players and press alike for driving the strong sales figures.
Resident Evil Requiem is the latest entry in the Resident Evil series, which marks its 30th anniversary this month. Capcom leaned into the franchise's core formula, focusing on the balance between dread and intense action to push survival horror forward. The game has resonated strongly with fans – it currently holds second place on Metacritic by user score.
Built on Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE, the game achieves photorealistic visuals with finely detailed materials – character skin, teary eyes, flowing hair, and accurate light translucency all rendered in striking detail.
Accessibility was also a clear priority for the developers. Resident Evil Requiem includes multiple difficulty settings designed to welcome newcomers while still offering a challenge for series veterans.
Players can also switch between first-person and third-person perspectives in real time during gameplay, letting everyone find the style that suits them best.
Resident Evil Requiem is available on PC and all current-gen consoles.
