New Blood's mysterious Fallout-inspired CRPG shows new footage

New Blood Interactive's unnamed Fallout-inspired CRPG keeps teasing fans with rare but impressive updates. Studio head Dave Oshry continues dropping bits of information across scattered social media posts, and each one only fuels the community's anticipation. A recent post from RAZORWIRE is a good reminder of just how eagerly old-school RPG fans are watching this one.

Oshry recently shared an animation showing tall buildings and plenty of moving objects filling each scene.

A couple of older posts are worth revisiting too. In one, Oshry confirms he's not the face of the main character:

In another, he responds to a comment claiming the aesthetic of Fallout 1 and 2 could never be replicated – seemingly suggesting the game gets pretty close.

The game was first revealed back in June 2022 at New Blood's mini-showcase. Development has moved at a deliberate pace since then, but there's been meaningful progress. In July 2025, one of the bigger design decisions was announced – after lengthy internal debate, the team dropped the first-person JRPG-style combat system, reasoning that it essentially meant building two games at once. The CRPG will instead use classic isometric turn-based combat, with first-person kill-cam finishers.

The combat system runs on a hexagonal grid with action points – just like Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics. New Blood added their own twist: landing a kill triggers a short first-person finishing animation rendered in the game's striking visual style. For those wanting a full first-person shooter experience in that aesthetic, Oshry has pointed to Fallout: Bakersfield – a Doom-style remake of the original Fallout that Alexander Berezin is also working on.

The unnamed CRPG has a team made up of Fallout community veterans. Alexander Berezin, known for the Fallout Sonora and Olympus 2207 mods for Fallout 2, is handling the visuals. Mark Morgan – composer of the original Fallout, Fallout 2, and Wasteland 3 – is writing the music. Indie developer Adam Lacko is also on board, having spent years working on Project Van Buren, a fan reconstruction of Interplay's cancelled Fallout 3.

Oshry has called the CRPG his "dream game" and openly admits that nearly all information about it lives in scattered social media threads that are nearly impossible to track down.

The game will feature handcrafted levels, a cooperative mode, and a built-in level editor. By December 2025, New Blood had grown to nearly 50 employees, giving the studio considerably more resources to put behind such an ambitious project.

No title or release date has been announced. But each new update makes it clear that development is moving forward, and Berezin's visual style keeps looking better with every glimpse.
