Short GTA 6 video showing map and interface leaked online

Another leak of Grand Theft Auto VI materials stirred up the gaming community after a video showing fragments of the map, interface, and character-switching mechanics was removed following a copyright claim. Rockstar's swift response prompted fans to ask the familiar question: if the studio acted so quickly, does that mean the video is real?

The deleted footage, shared by the Grand Theft Auto 6 Informer account, allegedly showed the game's interface, part of the open world, and the process of switching between protagonists – Jason and Lucia.

The system resembles the character-switching mechanics from GTA 5. Additionally, the video briefly displayed a list of skills: Special, Stamina, Shooting, Strength, Stealth, Driving, Flying, and Lung Capacity. Such a set of characteristics points to a familiar RPG progression system.

After the removal, the same account reuploaded the video, and at the time of the original publication, the clip was still available.

Over the years, Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have repeatedly issued strikes against leaks, mods, and videos featuring unofficial content. For fans, the very fact of removal has long become part of the narrative – each strike is perceived as indirect confirmation of authenticity. For example, in 2022, Take-Two swiftly removed leaked materials, and that action was interpreted as acknowledgment of their authenticity.

The "leak – removal – speculation" formula has created a closed loop where each copyright holder's action fuels interest, even if the materials are outdated or completely fabricated. In short, the scale of expectations around GTA 6 is such that any fragment, regardless of whether it's genuine, instantly spreads across the internet.

The game's release is scheduled for November 2026, initially for PS5 and Xbox Series only. PC gamers will once again have to wait while the publisher maximizes console sales first.
