Sucker Punch announces Ghost of Yōtei Legends multiplayer mode release date
During the State of Play presentation, Sucker Punch announced that the cooperative Ghost of Yōtei Legends mode will launch on March 10 as part of a free patch 1.5 for all Ghost of Yōtei owners.
Legends will offer three mission types at launch. In Survival, players can team up with up to three others to defend territory against waves of increasingly difficult enemies on one of four maps. Controlling a location allows you to activate a Blessing, granting your team an advantage in battle, but losing control unleashes a Curse, putting the team at a disadvantage. Each map will feature unique Blessings and Curses.
Story missions are designed for two players and include 12 missions total. After completing each set of three Story missions, you'll unlock an Incursion – a large-scale four-player assault on a stronghold belonging to a member of the Yōtei Six. Each Incursion culminates in a boss fight against a giant, supernatural version of the Spider, the Oni, the Kitsune, or the Snake.
In April, the developers will release a Raid where teams will face off against the Dragon and Lord Saito himself – the ultimate challenge in Legends mode.
Players can choose from four classes: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. While all classes can use a katana and ranged weapon, each specializes in a different combat system from Ghost of Yōtei and earns unique armor cosmetics by completing feats. The Samurai wields the ōdachi and has access to the widest range of weapon types, the Archer uses the yari (spear) and can carry an additional ranged weapon, the Mercenary dual-wields katana with a variety of utility-focused abilities, and the Shinobi fights with the kusarigama while employing stealth-focused skills.
Beyond gear earned through leveling up, players can obtain Legendary weapons and equipment by tackling higher difficulty challenges. Photo Mode will let you capture action shots with your teammates. The new Legends lobby will offer combat and archery practice, a chance to play Zeni Hajiki with friends, and attempts at setting high scores in Bamboo Strike.
The Legends mode was one of the most successful elements of Ghost of Tsushima, and Sucker Punch promises to regularly share updates about the new version of the mode on social media as March 10 approaches.
