First trailer revealed for hardcore stealth co-op Yakoh Shinobi Ops featuring ninja gameplay with an unkillable pursuer
Shueisha Games and Acquire, pioneers of ninja stealth action, unveiled the first trailer for Yakoh Shinobi Ops at the State of Play presentation. The four-player co-op online stealth action game launches on PS5 in 2027.
In Yakoh Shinobi Ops, four players take on the role of shinobi working together to infiltrate heavily guarded enemy territory. Enemy soldiers patrol every corner, traps lurk in the shadows, and danger is everywhere.
Only by combining their unique abilities can the four shinobi accomplish their mission. While the game can be enjoyed solo, the developers believe the experience truly shines when four players collaborate as one unified force. Hide in darkness, deceive enemies, survive at all costs, and when death closes in, trust your instincts to escape – this is how the studios describe the hardcore, pulse-pounding stealth action they're creating.
At the core of the game is relentless tension, driven by the ever-present Pursuer that hunts the shinobi without mercy. The Pursuer cannot be defeated. To be caught is certain death. Its presence alone fills every mission with overwhelming fear, forcing players to stay alert at all times as they push forward toward their objective. To survive, shinobi must make split-second decisions – finding places to hide, moving silently through enemy territory, and sometimes sprinting at full speed to escape danger.
Each shinobi wields different ninjutsu abilities. One uses a grappling hook to climb to high places, another destroys walls to forge new paths, one conceals allies with smoke screens, and another distracts enemies with firecrackers. When each understands their role and acts in coordination, the team can overcome missions that would be nearly impossible alone. Each shinobi excels in different situations, and flexible role distribution according to circumstances is key to success.
The shinobi lurk in darkness while constantly making quick decisions about their next move, advancing in sync with their teammates. Coordination is required – checking guard positions and lines of sight from a bird's-eye view, then advancing all at once when an ally deploys a smoke screen.
Cooperative play is crucial – reviving and rescuing fallen comrades, carrying teammates to high places, and simultaneously operating devices within enemy territory. In dangerous territory where a single mistake can be fatal, perfect coordination among all four is essential to successfully complete the mission.
For the shinobi, surviving and returning alive is a critical element of the mission. Leaving one's corpse exposed in enemy territory is the greatest shame for a shinobi, and mission rewards will be greatly reduced. The escape after completing missions carries a different tension from the infiltration.
As the time limit approaches, the shinobi must evade the surveillance of guards and the Pursuer to reach the extraction point. The more you play, the more powerful equipment you'll unlock, letting you craft custom loadouts.
