Wall battles, time manipulation, and vast world in A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei gameplay trailer

CangMo Game Entertainment released the debut gameplay trailer for action-RPG A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei, set in ancient China during the late Ming Dynasty. The game immerses players in the jianghu – the traditional world of martial artists with its conflicts, friendships, and vendettas. The protagonist, an ordinary boatman, gets forced to infiltrate the Jinyiwei imperial guard as a black market agent after an unexpected incident.

The trailer showcases gameplay that simultaneously evokes slashers, Assassin's Creed, and the wave of recent Chinese titles. Particularly impressive are the levels featuring massive Chinese ships and wall-climbing combat sequences.

Gameplay combines acrobatic movement across rooftops, wall-running, and spectacular duels where players can counter every attack. The central mechanic revolves around a unique deduction ability using an artifact that enables time travel within specific levels. This feature allows players to trace different scenario outcomes and experience distinctive gameplay with overlapping possibilities. As a Jinyiwei member, players hone martial arts skills while executing missions for the Imperial Guard Bureau and the black market. As investigations deepen, the protagonist gradually uncovers a massive conspiracy. The ability to foresee the future helps navigate between various factions, surviving and finding answers amid the chaos of possibilities.

The game offers multiple character development paths. Players can become a wandering knight-errant fighting for nation and people, a bureaucrat content with peaceful existence, or forge an entirely different path. Crime investigations feature suspect interrogations and deduction mechanics for quickly identifying the true culprit.

A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei launches on PC and PS5, with no specific release date announced yet.
