Civilization 7 player builds every Wonder and generates 50,000 gold per turn
What's the highest amount of gold your virtual empire has generated per turn? I once hit 12,000 gold per turn in Civilization 6. That's a respectable sum, but it pales in comparison to what minmaxing players can achieve when they optimize everything to the absolute limit.
Case in point – one player recently showed off an impressive result in Civilization 7 – complete global domination as Spain with an income of 50,314 gold per turn during the Exploration Age. The player didn't just conquer the entire world, but also constructed every single available Wonder before transitioning to the next era.
A key feature of this approach was the aesthetic organization of Wonders. Rather than cramming all structures into one city, the player grouped them by cultural regions.
I don't like mixing Wonders from different civilizations in one city – it looks like a chaotic theme park.
As a result, each city received a thematic collection of architectural masterpieces from a specific culture.
To reach these numbers, the player used an aggressive strategy of suppressing rivals from the Antiquity Age onward, preventing them from freely building settlements, buildings, and Wonders. Spain receives massive bonuses from resources and expansion into distant lands, creating a snowball effect during colonization. The player actively expanded settlements around volcanoes and floodplains in Antiquity, then focused on gold, silver, rubies, chocolate, and sugar during the Exploration Age – resources that boost population happiness.
Another crucial tactic was controlling age progression. The player deliberately delayed legacy paths and kept technologies and civics one turn away from completion to avoid accelerating the transition to the next era prematurely. This created a window for constructing all buildings and Wonders. According to the player, even on custom difficulty, building a mega-empire requires constantly harassing opponents with wars to slow their development.
If you're new and considering attempting such a gold empire, the key to high income is the proper balance between cities and towns. Towns generate massive amounts of gold by converting production into currency at a 1:1 ratio, while cities produce decent gold with high adjacency bonuses from specialty districts but consume it on maintenance.
