Baldur's Gate 3 player discovers how to turn Zevlor into a goblin-killing machine
A Baldur's Gate 3 player discovered a way to make Zevlor incredibly powerful during the battle at the Emerald Grove gate. This first fight at the gates serves as an excellent opening for Act 1. Players learn that druids and tieflings have taken refuge in the grove while a goblin camp attempts to destroy them. Overall, it's the first major combat encounter in the game.
For newcomers, this is quite a challenging fight. Wyll often dies, scouts behind the gates deal minimal damage, and Zevlor with the tieflings atop the gate aren't particularly effective at ranged combat. However, one player figured out that if you somehow get Zevlor down from his perch, he can one-shot goblins. The only problem was getting him there. The solution came from a loading screen tip that turned out to apply to NPCs as well.
Player axel_nobody shared in their thread:
During the first goblin fight at the grove gate I was wildshaped into a spider and shot a web surface into a group of the goblins. This gave Zevlor the confidence to leap down from the bridge using the web as a landing pad and start one shotting the goblins with his smites instead of his usual potshots.
There's a loading screen tip that mentions webs cancel fall damage, but to see an NPC take advantage of that in a new way was delightful.
That Zevlor can descend and join the fight in such a bold manner came as a surprise. It seemed like players had found everything possible – but the game continues to amaze.
