Assassin's Creed Hexe may feature Ezio and a contortionist-inspired combat system

Insider Tom Henderson shared new details about Assassin's Creed Hexe – one of the most mysterious games in Ubisoft's lineup. Rumors still suggest it will revolve around witches, at least based on its early development direction.

The biggest departure from previous entries appears to be a completely overhauled combat system built around acrobatics and fluid movement. Ubisoft Montreal took that seriously enough to hire a professional contortionist for motion capture work.

At some point in development, Ezio Auditore was planned to appear around the midpoint of the game to teach the protagonist the ways of the Assassins. Henderson notes he isn't sure whether that idea survived into the current version of the concept.

On the internal side, sources say Assassin's Creed Hexe is the game many people at Ubisoft Montreal actually want to be working on.

As for timing, it's now targeting a holiday 2027 release window. Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe was first announced in September 2022, with a cryptic teaser hinting at witch trials in early 17th-century Central Europe. After the reveal, Ubisoft's Marc-Alexis Côté described it as "a completely new type of Assassin's Creed game" – and since then, almost nothing has surfaced about its development.
