Resident Evil Requiem PC system requirements are surprisingly modest

Capcom has revealed the official PC system requirements for Resident Evil Requiem, and budget PC owners have reason to celebrate. The game will run on graphics cards that are nearly seven years old – the minimum threshold is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT. For recommended settings, an AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 will do the job. CPU requirements are equally modest – the minimum calls for an AMD Ryzen 5 3500 or Intel Core i5-8500, while recommended specs bump that up to an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 or Intel Core i7-8700. All of these are chips that are six to eight years old.

The one potential sticking point is RAM – the game requires at least 16GB even on low settings. For many older budget systems that shipped with 8GB, that means an upgrade. Under normal circumstances that wouldn't be a big deal, but RAM prices have climbed noticeably lately – especially for DDR5.

Capcom hasn't confirmed the PC download size yet (on PS5 it will be over 72GB) and hasn't listed an SSD as a requirement, but using one is definitely recommended – the game will load noticeably faster and with fewer interruptions mid-session. A high-end flagship SSD isn't necessary – any budget M.2 drive will make a meaningful difference.

As for the Steam Deck – given how low the bar is set, Valve's handheld is technically capable of running the game.

Resident Evil Requiem hits PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 on February 27.
