Soviet-era Romanian horrors on display in the Dread Eagle reveal trailer

Two solo developers and publisher Galactic Crows have dropped the debut trailer for horror game Dread Eagle, set against the backdrop of Soviet-era Romania. The footage showcases eerie nurses and various experiment subjects rendered in the aesthetic of late 20th-century USSR.

The game blends psychological horror with first-person action-adventure gameplay, offering both a solo campaign and multiplayer modes. The trailer makes it fairly clear the project is working with a modest budget.

The story takes place inside a secret Soviet facility on Romanian soil, where a mysterious experiment unfolds under the direction of Sebastian Dobrev. Players explore Facility 91-C – a hidden Soviet complex – uncovering disturbing truths about the trials and confronting what remains of those who took part. The dead return to fight back against the living in this nightmarish place.

Dread Eagle features a single-player campaign alongside competitive 1v1 and 2v2 modes. Each round kicks off with a grim take on Russian roulette tied to the facility's shared gas system. Losing doesn't mean instant death – instead, the loser gets sent to an execution chamber. A notable mechanic lets players take control of the antagonists, adding an unpredictable edge to every session.

Dread Eagle is set to launch on PC in 2026, with no specific release date announced yet.
