Wasteland Bites – a simulator for those who always wanted to run a food truck in the Fallout universe
The world has ended, civilization has collapsed, and the landscape has turned into a radioactive wasteland. But even in these conditions, mutants wandering through the ruins need something to eat. Wasteland Bites is a post-apocalyptic food truck simulator where players take on the role of a cook serving hungry creatures with bloodied fangs and rotting flesh. The demo is already available on Steam, with full release scheduled for April.
The food truck comes equipped with everything needed to operate at the end of the world: raw meat, canned goods, questionable-looking vegetables, cigarettes, giant rats, a shotgun, and rabid dogs. To start a shift, players must scare off a pack of dogs with the horn and chase rats off the supplies – killing them is pointless, as the rodents always return. Better keep that shotgun within reach – a line of terrifying customers has already formed at the truck.
Mutants and monsters place their orders, but despite missing limbs and sometimes even heads, they're extremely impatient and leave if service takes too long. The menu can include anything – a raw egg with a garlic clove on a stick, a turnip and potato sandwich lightly warmed in the toaster – imagination is limited only by the truck's inventory. As in the Fallout world, most mutants are ordinary people trying to survive in a destroyed world, but some truly nightmarish visitors show up among the customers.
While serving a line of ghouls, a glowing ghost might sneak up to the truck and suddenly attack. The poltergeist can slam the service window shut, flip all the switches, and shake the truck while grinning in the cook's face. UFOs occasionally appear in the wasteland, rapidly approaching for a detailed examination of the proceedings.
Different methods are available for dealing with hostile entities – some are scared off by a flashlight aimed at them, others by complete darkness, however terrifying that sounds. Sometimes simply turning away is enough to make the horror lose interest.
A special case is the dirty clown, whose nose players will have to honk. Such is life in the wasteland.
Wasteland Bites launches in April 2026 on Steam.
