Death Stranding 2 fan creates detailed diorama of the DHV Magellan ship
A Death Stranding 2 fan known as raixhell shared an impressive custom diorama featuring the DHV Magellan ship from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The work, based on a Kotobukiya model kit, received enthusiastic responses from the fan community.
The DHV Magellan serves as the mobile operations base for Sam and the DRAWBRIDGE team in the second Death Stranding installment. The vessel can traverse through dark tar and mysterious beaches, functioning as a fast travel method across the game world.
The creator used a 1/350 scale model with minimal customization but completely repainted the kit by hand. The diorama is crafted from XPS foam using various pigments, paints, and flocking. The tar was made using Vallejo water texture effect mixed with gloss black, while the dripping tar came from melted sprues with the same coating.
For the ship itself, custom-mixed acrylic paints were used for white and gray sections, metallic black and gunmetal for metal elements. The landscape was created through a combination of red, orange, and yellow pigments. Vegetation was made from dried moss secured with glue. A layer of red glaze added depth to the red rock texture.
Some fans were so inspired they wanted to build their own DHV Magellan – fortunately, the kits are still available for purchase online. The set allows builders to choose between a crane or rail gun, as well as a gatling gun or missiles for the CIWS on the ship's upper section.
