WARDOGS promises tactical chaos for 100 players with destructible world
British studio BULKHEAD unveiled the debut trailer for WARDOGS – a 100-player tactical first-person shooter positioned as an alternative to extraction shooters and battle royales. The game focuses on massive three-team battles with environmental destruction mechanics and a complex economic system.
In WARDOGS, players take on the role of mercenaries participating in large-scale battles. The goal is to clear territories, capture control points, and cause havoc to earn in-game currency. The studio kept the project secret for several years, and now the first trailer showcases the ambitious scope of the project.
The game promises a wide range of combat possibilities: from using rocket launchers to take down aircraft to sniper-spotter duos working at distances of hundreds of meters. BULKHEAD announced progression, base-building mechanics, and vehicular combat on destructible locations set in the industrial mountains of Eastern Europe.
The core mechanic of WARDOGS revolves around an in-game economy. At the start of each match, players receive $10,000 to purchase equipment – from weapons and gear to vehicles. All purchases affect the chances of winning the current round, while actions in combat generate additional income to expand the arsenal.
After a match ends, the balance resets to the starting $10,000 – forming the gameplay loop. BULKHEAD is betting on a sandbox where players choose their playstyle: from solo raids to teamwork, from total destruction to stealth operations.
BULKHEAD plans to launch a testing period soon – sign-ups are available through the game's Steam page. Early access release is expected later this year.
