Virtuos worked on Fallout season 2, but that doesn't mean Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters are coming

Virtuos has become recognizable to gamers thanks to its work on major remasters like Oblivion Remastered and Metal Gear Solid Delta. However, over several decades the company has quietly contributed to major franchises, including film and television projects. Recent confirmation of Virtuos's involvement in Fallout season 2 sparked speculation about potential Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters.

Ahead of the Fallout season 2 finale, the studio confirmed on Twitter that its team worked on environment art, creating photorealistic landscapes for the show. Given Virtuos's experience with the Oblivion remaster, fan reactions were predictable – replies flooded with questions about possible game remasters.

Rumors of a Fallout 3 remaster have heated up over the past year, but concrete information about the project or developers hasn't surfaced. Virtuos seems like an obvious candidate, especially after Oblivion Remastered, and recent examples of surprise announcements only fuel fan hopes.

Still, Virtuos's work on the Fallout show shouldn't be taken as proof of game development in the franchise. The studio rarely publicizes its film and television work, though it occasionally posts press releases about contributions to movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, or MCU projects.

By 2024, when Virtuos turned 20, the company had grown to 23 studios and offices worldwide with over 3,800 employees. In other words, it's not just a remaster studio. Perhaps Virtuos really is working on upgraded versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but involvement in the show can hardly be considered a hint.
