Arc Raiders and The Finals hit by coordinated DDoS attacks

Embark Studios confirmed that Arc Raiders and The Finals were hit by DDoS attacks, which the studio characterized as "extensive" and "co-ordinated".

Problems began with mass server instability affecting both games. While the development team initially managed to partially stabilize the situation, servers soon faced disruptions again as attacks continued.

Community manager Ossen posted an update on the official Arc Raiders Discord server:

Hey Raiders, both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS have been under extensive, co-ordinated DDoS attacks. The strike team has been working hard on mitigations and solutions to fix the problem, and we are making good progress – but at this point in time the attacks are still ongoing.

Work on restoring stable connectivity coincided with a hotfix release targeting unintended changes from a recent major update. The patch affected fire rates for some weapons, caused earned cosmetics to disappear, and introduced other issues.

Servers are now recovering, though some stability issues may persist for a while.

The attack occurred just a day after the release of a new solo vs squad game mode and a new Bird City map condition. Notably, even during the ongoing DDoS attack, SteamDB tracked over 100,000 players still in-game. Overall, SteamDB data shows no significant disruptions.
