Fallout series finally shows one of the universe's most important characters after 25 years of game mentions

The second season of Fallout finally allowed viewers to see a character who existed in the universe's lore for over 25 years but never appeared on screen or in any frame.

This character has been mentioned in the game series since Fallout 2, making him part of the franchise canon for a quarter century. Despite playing a critical role in the universe's world events, players never saw his face – not even in photographs or portraits.

Warning – spoilers for episode seven of Fallout season two ahead!

The show's creators had the opportunity to continue the tradition and show the character only as a silhouette or hide his face, but they took a different path. In episode seven of season two, viewers finally saw the last President of the United States in the flesh, ending the long-standing mystery about his appearance.

Given the detailed lore crafting in Fallout, it's rather strange that nobody really knew who exactly was President of the United States at the moment of nuclear war. The President is mentioned in several games in the series, but the closest thing to a name that players found was a reference in Fallout 76 with barely distinguishable first two letters: "Di."

Meanwhile, no image of the President existed. No old photographs, portraits, or billboards. Nothing showing his appearance. Fallout 3 takes place in Washington, but even there isn't a single image of the President who led the country at the moment of the end of the world. Even considering he joined the Enclave and went underground months before the catastrophe, it would be logical to expect at least some surviving evidence.

The television series creators decided to fix the situation by showing the President in another flashback where Cooper meets him personally in Las Vegas. After 25 years of mystery, the last President of the United States finally appeared on screen, played by actor Clancy Brown.

Brown's appearance in Fallout is especially pleasant for fans. Not only has the actor done extensive voice work for video games – Spyro the Dragon, Detroit: Become Human, God of War 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and many others, but one of his first roles in games was the original Fallout, where he voiced a Brotherhood of Steel member named Rhombus.

Despite the long-awaited appearance, the last U.S. President still didn't receive a name. In the episode he's only addressed by title, and in the credits Clancy Brown is listed simply as "President of the United States."

However, one episode remains before the season finale. Perhaps Brown will appear again, and the writers will finally give his character a name, filling in the gap in Fallout's historical chronicles.
