Minecraft unveils more baby mobs and an item for eternal youth
Mojang continues revealing details about the next Minecraft update, focused on mobs. As already known, baby mobs will no longer be simply scaled-down copies of adults – they're getting their own visual identity and sound design. After showcasing lambs, bunnies, and foals, the studio presented another batch of babies for the sandbox game and confirmed a craftable item that'll keep mobs small and fuzzy forever.
Following the reveal of updated models for several animals and baby horses, mules, and donkeys, it's time to show love to aquatic mobs. Baby turtles stand out particularly – "one of the smallest baby mobs" standing only a few pixels tall. The tiny flippers dragging them across the ground and the new single-pixel eye design look incredibly adorable.
Besides baby turtles, Mojang confirmed overhauls for baby dolphins, squids, glow squids, and axolotls.
The main news is the golden dandelion, a craftable item that stops babies from aging. Crafting requires one regular dandelion and eight gold ingots. After that, simply equip the item, right-click on a baby mob, and it'll stop growing, remaining a baby forever.
Great idea!
All five new mobs, previously revealed babies, and the golden dandelion are available for testing right now in Java snapshots and Bedrock previews. The full release date hasn't been announced yet, which likely means additional reveals ahead. Fox cubs, baby armadillos, and polar bear cubs haven't been mentioned yet, and judging by how many have already been shown, Mojang might be overhauling the entire animal mob lineup.
